Metropolitan Heritage – Heritopolis

Heritopolis is an international initiative linking heritage and metropolitan issues towards sustainable urban development. It is an open-ended partnership framed under the UNHabitat Universities Network Initiative (UNI) and, specifically, the UNI Hub on Metropolitan Management. Heritopolis currently comprises more than 20 well-known universities, research and academic centres, planning agencies, and independent experts working on urban heritage subjects and includes 7 UNESCO Chairs, Category II Centres and a World Heritage Studies programme.

UN-Habitat - MetroHUB

UN-Habitat has established the MetroHUB initiative for supporting sustainable development in world’s metropolises and regions, by tailoring innovative metropolitan solutions to local contexts and informing metropolises’ decision-making processes with latest research and data. UN-Habitat work on metropolitan and regional management includes: capacity development of metropolitan and regional authorities; formulation of metropolitan sectoral policies; drafting and improvement of metropolitan legal frameworks; strengthening of supramunicipal governance schemes; designing metropolitan and regional planning instruments; and innovating on financing mechanisms at metropolitan and regional scales.

MOT - Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière

The Transfrontier Operational Mission (MOT) is an association set up in 1997 by the French government. Supported at French national level, it is also a network of players in border territories: regions, provinces, municipalities, groupings of local authorities and territorial authorities, cross-border structures, governments, public enterprises, chambers of commerce and industry, federations, networks, urban planning agencies, etc. This positioning facilitates structured dialogue between national and European authorities and local and regional players.

The MOT is also a technical team at the service of its members. Its role is to assist project developers, to promote the interests of cross-border territories and to facilitate the networking of players and the sharing of experiences. It acts as the interface between the different stakeholders in order to find cross-border solutions at the right levels.

International Peace & Cooperation Center, Jerusalem

IPCC is an independent Palestinian, non-profit organization which was established in Jerusalem in 1998. They support the development of a highly informed, competent and active Palestinian civil society that is capable of realizing its social, economic and political rights, through an integrative approach of research, urbanism, community engagement and capacity building.

Pal-Think for Strategic Studies

Based in Gaza, Pal-Think for Strategic Studies is an independent non-profit think and do tank that aims to stimulate and inspire rational public discussions and consensus for the well-being of the Palestinians. Pal-Thinks work is structured around a dual focus on 1) in-depth research and 2) civic society empowerment through project work; this way Pal-Think aims to give a clear platform for constructive debate and dialogue and to produce up to date research relevant of the Palestinian cause and the situation in the Middle East. There are multiple Palestinian and international researchers, authors, politicians and activists connected to Pal-think and its work. Up to now, some of Pal-Thinks main priorities have been to conduct research about the reconstruction of Gaza as well as the reconciliation- and peace processes of sustaining a shared Palestinian unit, both politically, geographically and socio-economically. A great effort has also been placed on actively engaging the young Palestinian population in meaningful political work and empowering them to take part in the civic life in Gaza.
